Travel questions

Good to know.

How far ahead should I book a travel consultation?

As early as possible — ideally four to six weeks before you leave. Some vaccines need more than one dose or take time to become effective. If you are leaving sooner, still contact us: there is often something useful we can do.

When does a yellow fever certificate become valid?

An International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) for yellow fever becomes valid 10 days after vaccination. Under the International Health Regulations it is then valid for the life of the person vaccinated.

Will my medical aid pay for travel vaccines?

Cover differs between schemes and plans. Please check with your medical aid, or contact the practice and we’ll help you understand the costs before your visit.
